For National Voter Registration Week, Students for Social Change hosts our annual Voter Registration Drives in the Pleasanton high schools. More than 50 students are registered to vote!

Students for Social Change hosts an Art for Our Lives  Showcase to honor the anniversary of March for Our Lives at Inklings Coffee & Tea. Such a powerful community event! 

1.19.2019

Students for Social Change co-organizes the first ever Tri-Valley Women's March! More than 800 people attend. Additionally, at the Oakland Women's March, SSC Co-founder and co-president Arushi Avachat gives a speech to thousands of fellow marchers. #Women'sWave

The SSC directors spend the morning volunteering at a San Francisco soup kitchen. We plan to make this a frequent practice!

Preston Cobb, our Kentucky State Lead, is featured in his school's newspaper about his work with SSC.

Foothill High School's chapter of Students for Social Change celebrates National Voter Registration Week by hosting a voter registration drive on campus! More than 70 students are registered. Pleasanton Patch reports on the event.

Students for Social Change reaches a five-state milestone! California, Oregon, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Idaho now all have chapters of SSC.

Students for Social Change co-sponsors the Tri-Valley Families Belong Together Rally, and co-founder Arushi Avachat gives a speech on immigrant rights. 
Independent News, Pleasanton Weekly, and Pleasanton Patch publish articles on the event.

Dougherty Valley High School's newspaper The Wildcat Tribune writes an article about Students for Social Change.

The Women's March Empower Coalition launches! Students for Social Change serves as Team Lead for the Multi-Issue Empower Team. 

5.20.2018
Students for Social Change hosts its first voter registration drive at the Pleasanton Public Library.

4.20.2018
Students for Social Change holds a gun control panel at Inklings Coffee & Tea with California Assemblywoman Catharine Baker. 

3.14.2018
Chapters of SSC across the country walk out of class to protest gun violence. Over 2,000 students walk out in Pleasanton schools. 

3.4.2018
​Students for Social Change holds its very first event, a fundraiser for Parkland victims. Over $2,600 are raised, and attendees make T-shirts and posters for the upcoming walkouts and marches. NBC Bay Area News and Pleasanton Patch report on the event.
